Taken in Hilton Head, SC. Was parked in yacht club members parking only spot.

I appreciate this very much. The thin line between “damn that’s ingenious” and “something is going to go terribly wrong.”

Needs more sanding to make it a little more aerodynamic / quiet.

I really liked the twine attaching the lumber to the factory roof rails.

Having had to look into this extensively for work, I really wish people knew more about max payload capacity on their cars and trucks. It makes me cringe when I see a little crossover packed to the gills with luggage and a Thule rack up top most likely filled as well. You know its carrying the average couple with 2.5 kids and a dog and a couple hundred pounds more than the car is rated for.

Has enough money to buy a new car, but cant spend $200 on the roof rack crossbars.

This is what worries me, too. Even if the structure can handle it — can the engine and brakes?
My first trip to the beach in college with friends, I rode shotgun in a first gen. Saturn Vue. It was a base model, 4 cylinder, FWD, automatic. That thing was probably a dog even totally empty with only a driver, but with two extra people and all their shit for a week’s vacation, it was downright scary how poorly it accelerated and braked.
I’m sure the Rogue above will fair better than an early 2000's base model Vue, but it’s still just a crossover with a puny naturally aspirated 4-cylinder under the hood.

Apparently has the money to belong to a yacht club and own some sort of boat, but owns a rental spec Nissan Rogue with a homemade rack on top.

Priorities I guess?

Most crossovers have a lower payload capacity than the cars they are based on. Same chassis, probably same drive train but with a bigger and heavier body. Some people are probably even close to overloading the tires they have the way they load up. I look at you small truck owners.

Can’t spell twine without win
